Mechanism
GLP-1 receptor activation in the pancreas drives glucose-dependent insulin release and less glucagon, while GIP receptor activation enhances this incretin effect; centrally it activates hypothalamic satiety pathways, and it raises energy expenditure and improves lipid metabolism in fat tissue and the liver.
