The first dual GIP/GLP-1 receptor co-agonist, approved by the FDA as Mounjaro in 2022 for type 2 diabetes and Zepbound in 2023 for chronic weight management. It has greater affinity for GIP than GLP-1 receptors and produced substantial reductions in blood sugar and body weight in trials.
