Mechanism
Acts on kidney V2 receptors via cAMP/PKA signaling to move aquaporin-2 channels to the cell surface, boosting water reabsorption; on blood-vessel V1a receptors it triggers calcium signaling that causes vasoconstriction and raises blood pressure; centrally, V1b receptors influence social behavior, memory, and stress-hormone regulation.
