FGL (Fibroblast Growth Loop peptide - Plannexin, FGLs, FGLL)
Plannexin, FGLs, FGLL, FGL peptide
Synthetic peptide mimic of neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM), developed in the early 2000s for cognitive enhancement and neuroprotection. Activates FGF receptor signaling to boost synaptic plasticity and BDNF; shown in animals to aid neurogenesis, learning, and memory, but remains research-only with limited human data.
Research score 70/100. Reference only, not a dose.

Mechanism
Binds FGFR1, triggering receptor dimerization and MAPK/ERK and PI3K/Akt signaling that raises BDNF via CREB-driven gene expression, crosses the blood-brain barrier, and strengthens synaptic transmission, long-term potentiation, and dendritic spine formation.
Safety file
Appears well tolerated in early studies; intranasal use caused only minor local irritation, with no systemic toxicity in animals.
