Mechanism
Disrupts bacterial membranes through electrostatic binding to negatively charged phospholipids, causing depolarization and death, while also dampening inflammation via toll-like receptor modulation and reduced NF-κB, TNF-α, and IL-1β activity.
Safety file
Generally well tolerated in trials; mild, transient tingling/numbness with IV dosing, no hemolysis observed, and serious adverse events are rare.
